COLORS
Looking around, the Shar-pei color of the most common is Fawn, into its gradation. However so many other colors exist, from one very light (cream) to the black.
There are the different varying and for this , They have been divided in
SOLID COLORS and DILUTE COLORS
MELANIN : is a pigment very important for the coloration of the coat, in absence of this pigment we get a white coat that funamentally is a NOT COLOR.
Two pigments that derive from the melanin are FEOMELANIN and EUMELANIN
difference between these two pigments is given by the diameter of the granules that them are composite.Infact how much more big they are ,will be more darkest.
into Feomelanin we will have some colors from cream up to raech the mahogany(like Irish setter) while in the Eumelanin we will have darkest colorsup to the black.
Standard F.C.I. accepts well 17 colors.
SOLID COLORS
1-CREAM : It' enough diffused color, from light cream to Ivory/dark ecrù. May have darker ears and shading along the dorsal line. The nose of the newborn puppy should be darkest, but after will be more light( brick red). We often to find some lavander tongue, but we should be to find a nice blu tongue
2-RED : the difference with a fawn coat is that coat color is uniform over the body: it's without tones. we Can get a red mahogany, almost and red ochre (example Irish setter) tyhis subject often have the presence of dark masck.
3-FAWN: here it's! this is the most diffuse color for beautiful breed; it usually goes from the fawn light gilded to dark gilded( red fawn). there are with or without dark musck. May have darker shading along the dorsal line. They have a solid colored nose and foot pads.
4-BROWN : this color is very rare , to not confuse with dilute chocolate. The coat color is uniformover the body ,neck, head and legs. There are some a little variation.
5-SABLE : It's a particular color,perhaps the only one accepted from the standard with two separate colored hair- one black and one a lighter color , at the base is light andt at the point is dark. The particular color is uniform over the body, neck and legs.
Dilute COLORS
Cream: The same as basic cream colour but without black pigmentation.
5-Point Red (Red Dilute): The "5 points" are nose, eyes, skin, foodpads and anus. These dogs are a distinct deep red fawn varying to a dark red colour.
Apricot:
A distinct apricot colour ranging in shade from light to dark apricot.
Blue: Brush coat blues are usually very dark
blue and horse coat blues will usually be a light silvery blue.
Chocolate: Often this colour is confused with brown. Chocolate Shar Pei can not have any black pigmentation. Noses, etc. are chocolate coloured and tongues are lavender.
Sable (Dilute): A lacing of dark coloured (not black) hair over a lighter coloured ground colour (not white). The coat colour is uniform in the body, neck, head and legs. A true Sable does not have a lighter butterfly pattern on the chest nor Doberman points on the head. Legs are laced evenly. A saddle pattern is also not a true Sable.
Lilac: A chocolately blue dilute colour giving the appearance of purple. Again, the colour is darker in brush coats than in horse coats. (Lilac is the same colour as a Weimaraner) Always found in dilute only.
Isabella: These Shar Pei have a dusty rose colour coat with pale blue masking and shading and lavender tongues. The ears and dorsal line may be darker.
Silver (Dilute): Silvers include blue, grey and taupe. Noses are slate and tongues lavender. This is a bluish/silverish smokey colour with very little variation.
